There is no denying that social media has become an incredibly powerful tool and one that many brands, companies, and celebrities have started to take advantage of — including models. Although they were already considered successful before, Miranda Kerr, Cara Delevingne, and other top models have become household names, not only because of their lucrative ad campaigns or endorsement deals, but through social media as well.

In a Forbes article, Vicky Yang, marketing coordinator for The Society Management in New York, said social media has «become an ideal outlet» for models to showcase their personalities as well as an insider look into their everyday lives:

«Rather than posing as mere mannequins on a piece of paper or even in motion within a video, they [models] now have platforms where both their personal and career journeys can be documented thoroughly – and these ‘digital scrapbooks’ are both easily-accessible and embraced by a curious public . . . Of course, within this public are individuals who not only consume social media content but potentially products as well, and brands are beginning to realize that this kind of direct influence has become invaluable.”
