Angels Doutzen Kroes and Karlie Kloss have decided to end their contracts with Victoria’s Secret.
Announced earlier today, Karlie has decided to hang up her angel wings. Although she will continue to model for major campaigns and runway shows, Karlie has decided to focus her energy on «new business opportunities and NYU starting in the fall.»
After working for the brand for 10 years, Doutzen spoke about her departure from the lingerie giant late last year in an interview for a Dutch television show. With multiple offers coming in from other lingerie brands and both Doutzen and her agent feeling it was best for her to move on to other things while she’s still on top, the decision to leave VS was made.
Ed Razek also took to Instagram today to confirm Doutzen’s departure from the brand in a heartwarming message.
«After I posted the news about @karliekloss leaving VS I got a number of texts asking me why I hadn’t said anything about Doutzen @doutzen leaving at the end of last year. Fair question. The simple answer is I should have. Doutzen had a lucrative opportunity in Europe and it would have conflicted with her VS obligations. So, at her agencies request, we released her from contract. There was no conflict. No animosity. None of the nonsense I’ve read on Instagram. She had a great business opportunity, and I wanted to be fair to someone I adore and respect. That’s all. I honestly believe Doutzen is one of the most stunningly beautiful people in the world. And I always will. I have told her that many times. Now you know.»
Although we will miss seeing both Angels on the runway, we are very excited for them to pursue their new ventures and wish both of them the absolute best in their careers!
