MAJOR INDUSTRY PLAYERS TAKE TO INSTAGRAM TO VENT AND MAKE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Ed Razek (President and Chief Marketing Officer of Brand and Creative Service at Limited Brands, Victoria’s Secret’s parent company) took to Instagram on February 20th to announce that Victoria’s Secret had released Karlie Kloss from her (fairly new) contract with the American lingerie company. Shortly after receiving comments probing him about Doutzen Kroes’ relationship with the company, Razek posted again to confirm that Doutzen too had been released from her contract.

The termination of two of the biggest modelling contracts in the industry would have been announced through a press release 10, 5, or even 1 year ago. Similarly, making the announcement on a personal social media account may have also been deemed inappropriate.

Evidently, the lines of professional/private and formal/casual are increasingly blurring.

This morning, top casting director James Scully, similarly took to Instagram to voice his displeasure with the casting at Gucci’s show.

Scully wrote,

I was not aware that Hellen Keller was making a guest appearance styling and casting the Gucci show! Maybe that’s the reason for the teenage girls and complete lack of diversity….. Big thumbs down.

The show was cast by Barbara Nicoli. We have reached out to her management, Trouble Management, for comment.

Scully sits on The Model Alliance’s Advisory Board and has been outspoken on diversity in the past.
